Subject: beach closures
Hi Jill.
PLEASE close our beach this weekend. Long Beach (and all of L.A. County, I think) beaches will be closed so we are
likely to be inundated for the holiday. PLEASE keep us safe from an influx.
Thanks,
Bea Kuebler

Subject: Please consider - Beach Closure for 4th of July
Good afternoon Ms. Ingram and Chief Gonshak,
I am writing as a concerned resident of Seal Beach and would like for you all to request closing our beach
starting on the 3rd of July through the weekend. With Los Angeles county closing their beaches we will no
doubt get an influx of people coming down to Seal Beach. (Normally not an issue)
We are currently living in the River Beach Townhomes and when Long Beach was closed we would see a
constant rush of people parking near the docks/restaurants and walking over to the beach. While I think
everyone should be able to use/access all beaches,, this is a huge cause for concern. We have already had two
places close, Clancy's and Cottage Beach Spa close due to Covid cases and lack of wearing masks. When
2
picking up dinner on Main street, we see packed restaurants, hardly anyone is wearing masks. For whatever
reason, masks have become a political issue, it is not. Please urge and/or continue to urge people to wear them.
My husband is a doctor, my brother in law is an ER physician, another friend who works at UCIrvine all say
numbers and cases are going up. Beds are filling up. Please help keep our community safe.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Angana Pathak

Dear Mayor,
I think we in Seal Beach need to follow the lead of Los Angeles county and close our beach.
Otherwise we will be impacted by people for the Holiday and will increase our city of the Covid
19.
We need to preserve out beach.
Thank You,
Concerned Seal Beach Resident

Subject: FW: Lack of Social Distancing and mask wearing in Seal Beach
Jill,
I am forwarding this email from a CPE resident concerning the non-mask wearing of many
people on Main Street and lack of social distancing. She has written before about this issue. At
the bottom of the email, she told me that there are a couple of houses on Bartlett Street in Garden
Grove that usually have illegal types of fireworks on July 4th (This is across the drainage canal
from Wisteria in CPE). I am not sure if these are illegal in Garden Grove. This resident lives on
Dogwood, near Wisteria.

Hi Schelly,
First of all I want to sincerely thank you for all you do as Mayor of Seal Beach. It is a very
tough job, especially now..
2
I live in CPE and went to downtown Seal Beach at about 9AM this past Saturday, June 27, to
pick up a couple of muffins from Javatinas. I drove along Ocean Blvd to turn right at Main
Street. and noticed a crowd of people with their bikes on the sidewalk in front of El Burrito and
Bogarts. There was no social distancing at all. One could not walk down the sidewalk without
literally bumping into people. Also most did not wear masks. There was also a group
motorcycle riders parked there. No masks there either.
I then turned right onto Main Street. Lots of people walking around again little social distancing
and many without masks.
I got to Javatinas and it was a bit better. However many people that sit on the benches on main
street in front of Javatinas, the pizza store, and others along that block of main street do not wear
masks. If they are eating that is one thing. But most are not eating. They are just sitting there
talking. That being the case they should wear masks.
This has to be hurting businesses. There are many people, who normally shop and make
purchases in downtown Seal Beach that will stay away because of this. This is not healthy for
anyone and there needs to be some semblance of enforcement.
I know this is extremely difficult. However if businesses need to shut down again due to the
stupidity of some, many businesses will not reopen again.
Also please consider closing the parks and beach for the 4th of July weekend for the health and
safety of all.
One more item, I am very concerned about the fire works allowed in Garden Grove. Especially
on Bartlett Street in Garden Park. Bartlett is the street that runs parallel to the river bed on the
other side from Wisteria. Annually there are a couple of houses that appear to regularly have
illegal types of fireworks. Maybe the City of Garden Grove would listen to you regarding this
matter.
I love our beautiful City of Seal Beach and feel so blessed to be able to live here.
Again thank you for all that you do for us.
Respectfully,
Diane Delaterre
