Questions for 7/27/20 Open Session from Robert Goldberg
Item D: Demand on Treasury (Warrants)
Page 1 (second grouping), check 16042 to Datamatic for $4946 for services for July ’20 to June ’21.
What is this contract for?
Is this a new ongoing annual expenditure?
Item G: Confirmation of Supplemental COVID Orders
Supplemental Order #9 reduced the cost of annual parking permits for businesses to $42 and
waived fees for fats/oil/grease wastewater discharge permits.
How much will this Order reduce City revenue for FY 20-21?
Will this loss of revenue be reimbursable from CARES funding?
Item N: PD Body Cameras, TASER’s, and Vehicle Cameras
The proposed contract is for 50 body cameras with an annual cost of licensing and support directly
tied to each camera of $1548 +tax. The third paragraph on page 3 of the staff report states that
each officer would be issued their own serialized unit.
Please explain the need for 50 cameras for a sworn force of 38 officers including the Chief
and two Commanders. Do we have 12 Reserve Officers who will also be issued cameras?
If 50 body cameras are needed, why are we only ordering 45 TASER 7’s?
Is there no practical or technical way to have a “pool” of, say, perhaps 25-30 cameras that
an officer could draw from before going out in the field? [Analogous to an officer taking a
vehicle from the department’s pool of cars when he or she leaves the station]
The proposed contract is for 45 TASER 7’s with an annual cost of licensing and support directly tied
to each TASER of $540 +tax in year 1 and $720 +tax in years 2-5.
How many TAZER 26 models do we currently have (and will be traded in for credit)?
As above, is there no practical or technical way to have a “pool” of, say, perhaps 25 -30
TASER 7’s that an officer could draw from before going out in the field?
The table in the Financial Impact section shows a first year cost of $23,216 for “Router Cost/Net Cloud
Essnet Set-up.” However, there is no contract for this service in the attachments to the staff report.
What is this, and who will be providing it?
