Subject:Temporary Dining
Hello,
As managing partner of O’Malleys Irish pub, 14o main St. Seal Beach, I would like to encourage the City to allow
temporary seating on the street. Given the current mandate from the State it is simply not possible to operate without
massive losses utilizing exiting outdoor seating only.
The restaurant industry operates under extremely small margins to start with and limiting seating to our 6 tables is not
viable. We employ 35 staff members that count in us for income. Should we close the doors they will be let go. Our
goal here is not to make a profit, but simply to breakeven while keeping folks employed. The addition of seating in front
would prove vital in this effort. It’s a two pronged issue at present. Increasing our capacity but also drawing patrons in
Seal beach who art present are frequenting Long Beach to the North and Huntington to Laguna beach areas to the
South. These Cities have outdoor parklets already in place and are seeing massive demand.
Respectfully,
David Copley
