> I’m a 20+ year resident of ‘the Hill’. I’m writing to you today to give my opinion on opening up Main Street to allow
more outside dining.

> All of the merchants on Main Street are suffering due to the Covid 19 closures. I believe these closures are necessary
to prevent further spread of the virus. I also believe doctors and scientists when they say mask wearing greatly helps
prevent further infection.

> While takeout is nice, providing restaurants with a way to have outside dining is needed for them to stay in business.
We’ve already lost two of my favorite restaurants and I wouldn’t be surprised if others were forced to close.

> I believe the city council should vote to allow restaurants to setup outside dining in the street in front of their
restaurants, similar to what I’ve seen on 2nd Street in Long Beach. I also believe you should vote to make Main Street
pedestrian only for a number of hours during the day (say 11am to 9pm). This will eliminate the congestion we’re seeing
on the narrow side walks and will make it easier for food servers to deliver food with out having to dodge sidewalk
traffic.

Let’s restore our reputation as the smart Orange County beach town that doesn’t cave into those that still think this

part of the Pavilions lot. Maybe our local churches can open up their lots, since they can’t currently have in house
services. I think keeping our merchants in business is worth the inconvenience of a few. Making Main Street safer for
dining and shopping is a great way to serve our community. I’d certainly be much more inclined to visit Main Street.
