VI.STAFF CONCERNS VII.COMMISSION CONCERNS VIII.ADJOURNMENT IX.NEXT MEETING:Wednesday,March 24,2021 COMMISSION STAFF REPORT DATE: February 24, 2021 TO: Honorable Chairperson and Commission Members FROM: Tim Kelsey, Recreation Manager SUBJECT:Centennial Expenditure Updates ________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The Recreation and Parks commission to receive an update and consider for approval a proposed project to be funded using revenue generated during the Centennial Celebration. BACKGROUND: On January 27, 2021 the Recreation and Parks Commission received an update on possible centennial projects that the commission had discussed at previous meetings. During the meeting the commission expressed an interest in adding new park workout equipment to two areas in the City. The areas discussed were near Marina Park and at Heather Park. The Commission asked staff to research the possibility of adding equipment at both sites. The equipment identified was a multi-use piece and two additional pieces. Staff has researched the request and concurs with the commission that this would be a good use of the available funds. Adding the equipment in both areas will allow the public increased access. Also both parks have the space to support the new equipment and both parks have a high level of use from the public and staff feels they will be a welcome addition to each park. If the commission chooses to recommend the project for approval the item will be presented to the City Council at a meeting in the future for their consideration. If the council chooses to move forward staff will publically bid the project and award to the lowest qualified bidder. RECOMMENDATION: The Recreation and Parks commission to receive an update and consider for approval a proposed project to be funded using revenue generated during the Centennial Celebration.
