Subject: Comment on Housing Element
To City Council Members and Staff:
I am opposed to the Old Ranch Country Club being on the list of potential sites for the following reasons: 1) homes
would be very close to aircraft takeoffs and could be impacted by airbase operations, especially in the event of a
disaster; 2) The placement of the homes could be impacted by glare/glint produced by the new Solar Energy Project; 3)
Traffic on Lampson/Seal Beach Blvd. would be impacted from the additional cars coming in and out of the
developments. The developments would be so close to the corner of Lampson and Seal Beach Blvd. that there would not
be a safe way to enter and exit the development. Traffic is already backed up significantly in the mornings and
afternoons when people are driving to work and school; 4) Due to the fact that the Poplar Plaza on Lampson is currently
for sale and will be developed, additional traffic from that project will surely add even more traffic in the area; 5)There
are ongoing improvements being made to Lampson Avenue, including the upcoming Bicycle Lane project, which will
impact the safety of bicyclists and motorists due to lane closures and the additional cars coming in and out of the homes
on the Old Ranch Country Club property. These are only a few obvious reasons for this location being removed from the
list of potential sites.
This might not qualify as relating to the Housing Element, but It has come to my attention that the city is considering
selling the house on Ironwood in CPE that was purchased in 2014 as a site to install a pump to alleviate the flooding
issues in our neighborhood. I am opposed to the sale of this house because I cannot accept the fact that nothing will
ever be done to mitigate the flooding problems on this end of CPE. Currently, the excess water is carried over to the Old
Ranch Golf Course, which could also potentially adversely affect any new developments on that property.
Respectfully submitted,
