Subject:I wish to pull Item I from tonight's Consent Calendar
Jill,
I am planning to pull Item I tonight: the PSA for the Tennis Center Improvement Project. I wanted to ask about a couple of concerns that I had.
As you know, one of my constituents, Hector Huffington, has previously asked about sharing concerns and questions that he had with the planning
process. I had done as you suggested, supplied him with link to the Power Point and its conceptual plans. He followed up recently to ask if I had
received answers to his concerns. Because of this, I let him know on Saturday evening that this item was on the agenda of tonight’s meeting in case
he would like to comment or ask questions – or have me ask a question. Yesterday, I received six different emails from him (I was reading my packet
and not aware of all of them coming in). I see that this morning he has organized all this material into a list and has copied Gloria. I agree with
Hector that this is not the place for all these questions. However, as I told you earlier, I would like to have some way that the members/players can
be made aware of what is being planned and allow them to give input – before the plans are finalized. This may not be in the form of a meeting with
the architects, but possible city staff (I realize that COVID even makes this difficult). Or possibly some kind of survey – although I would prefer
something more open-ended than just answering questions. Or could there be a direct email to “Ask a Recreation question” or “Learn about/
comment on the upcoming Tennis Center Improvement Project.”
Thank you.
Schelly
