HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 7313 2022-06-27 RESOLUTION 7313 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE RE-INSTITUTION OF ENFORCEMENT OF THE HEAD-IN PARKING ORDINANCE WHEREAS The City Council recognizes that enforcement of parking ordinances requires a balanced approach that weighs the need for public safety and the need for vehicle parking to be available to the residents and visitors of Seal Beach, WHEREAS The City of Seal Beach has a parking ordinance that prohibits backing vehicles into parking spaces in parking lots, and enhances safety by requiring drivers to park uniformly and drive in a consistent direction when parking in the beach parking lots, WHEREAS the City Council previously suspended enforcement of the head-in parking ordinance to provide time for the Police Department to educate drivers, study enforcement issues, and erect new signage in City parking lots. WHEREAS The City Council hereby approves of the active enforcement of the existing parking ordinance related to head in parking in a balanced and judicious manner. THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: Section 1. The City Council hereby rescinds its temporary direction to suspend the active enforcement of the existing parking ordinance related to head- in parking, and authorizes the City Manager to give direction related to said enforcement in accordance with applicable law. PASSED.
