A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH ADOPTING A PLAN
FOR THE PURCHASE OF SURPLUS SCHOOL
PROPERTY

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH HEREBY FINDS,
DETERMINES, RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant to Education Code Section 39397.5,
the City Council of the City of Seal Beach hereby adopts
the Plan for Purchase of Surplus School Property, attached
hereto as Exhibit A.

CITY OF SEAL BEACH PLAN FOR PURCHASE
OF SURPLUS SCHOOL PROPERTY
The Mary E. Zoeter Elementary School property ("Zoeter
School Site"), located at the southwest corner of Pacific
Coast Highway and 12th Street in the City of Seal Beach,
is the only surplus school property owned by the Los Alamitos
Unified School District in the City of Seal Beach. The
City Council of the City of Seal Beach unanimously made
the finding on June 30, 1986, that "public lands in the
vicinity of the Zoeter School site are inadequate to
meet the existing and foreseeable needs of the City for
playground, playing field, or other outdoor recreational
and open-space purposes." The Zoeter School Site has
been serving the-recreational needs of the people of Seal
Beach for many years.
Pursuant to Section 39397.5 of the Education Code,
the City of Seal Beach designates the portion of the Zoeter
School Site outlined in yellow on the attached site plan,
and referred to as Areas A and A-l on such plan, as surplus
school property which the City desires to purchase at
a price established pursuant to Section 39396 of the Education
Code.
Further, the City of Seal Beach desires to continue
to discuss with the Los Alamitos Unified School District
the purchase of the remaining approximately seventy percent
of the Zoeter School Site at a mutually agreed upon price.
