Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 3632 1986-08-25 RESOLUTION NUMBER 3632 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO INCLUDE THE POSITIONS OF STREET MAINTENANCE LEADPERSON AND PARKS LEADPERSON THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: I WHEREAS, on November 22, 1982, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 3227 adopting a Position Classification Plan for the City of Seal Beach 1 and WHEREAS, a new position classification for Street Maintenance Leadperson and Parks Leadperson has been prepared and approved by the Civil Service Board at their meeting of August 7, 1986. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED thst the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby amend the Position Classification Plan to include a Position Classification of Street Maintenance Leadperson and Parks Leadperson, attached hereto as Exhibit A and Exhibit B respectively. Resolution Number ~~~ STREET MAINTENANCE LEADPERSON DEFINITION Under general sup~rvision, supervises and assists small crews in the performance of their regular duties and responsibilities within the Street Maintenance function of the Public Works Department. Performs related work as required. I TYPICAL TASKS Receives assignments and plans proper use of personnel and equipment available; instructs subordinates; inspects equipment to determine need for and extent of repairs; reviews new jobs and projects with supervisor; consults with supervisor on periodic progress reports of divisional personnel; enforces safety regulations; maintains records; requisitions supplies; completes clerical work incidental to operation and maintenance. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education: Education equivalent to completion of high school. \ Experience: Two years experience in street maintenance with minimum 1 year as a member of a public works department. One year experience in traffic control required. Knowledge and Abilities: Basic knowledge of street maintenance, including asphalt and concrete repair, atreet painting, and curb, gutter and aidewalk repair/replacement; ability to train and supervise skilled, aemi- akilled and unskilled employees, ability to operate graders, rollers, sweepers, tractors, and related equipment; ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports; ability to establish effective work relationships with other supervisors and employeea. I I Resolution Number .fJt.3.Z l, PARKS LEADPERSON I DEFINITION UDder general supervision, supervises and assists small crews or works alone, in the maintenance of all municipal landscaped areas and parkway trees. Performs related work as required. TYPICAL TASKS Receives assignments and plans proper use of personnel and equipment available; instructs aubordinates consulting with supervisor; makes minor repairs to related equipment; maintains records; applies pesticides and fertilizers utilizing proper aafety practices; repairs irrigation system; performs related tree trimming tasksl may investigate complsints regarding psrk maintenance; assist with safety regulstion enforcement. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education: Education equivalent to completion of high school. , \ Experience: Two years experience in landscape maintenance with minimum 1 yesr as a member of a public works department. I Knowledge and Abilities: KnOWledge of basic horticulture practices and growth characteristics of a variety of plant material and their identification; knowledge of park maintenance equipment and its operation; knowledge of pesticides and fertilizers and their application; ability to recognize plant material disordersl ability to train and supervise skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees; ability to establish effective work relationships with other supervisors and employees.
