Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 3311 1983-10-10 RESOLUTION NUMBER :f~/I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH AMENDING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ADD THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION OF ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER II THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: I WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 3227 on November 22, 1982 adopting a Classification Plan for the City of Seal Beach; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board of the City of Seal Beach has considered and recommended the adoption of the position classification of Animal Control Officer II; and WHEREAS, the Personnel Officer has likewise recommended the adoption of the position classification of Animal Control Officer II. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby amend the Position Classification Plan to add the position classification of Animal Control Officer II. Resolution llur.tber .i~11 ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER II DEFINITION Supervises and participates in the activities involved in the licensing, control I and sheltering of animals, and does related work as required. TYPICAL TASKS Assigns and supervises the work of employees engaged in the licensing of animals; the enforcement of animal regulation ordinances; the investigation of animal bites and nuisance complaints; the inspection and quarantine of vicinus anima~s; the care, feeding and disposition of impounded animals. Establishes and ensures compliance with work standards; observes and enforces strict adherence to safety regulations and safe work practices, particularly in the handling of animals and the operation of patrol vehicles; investigates and reports on the more difficult complaints or situations involving animals; supervises the maintenance of kennels and buildings; participates in the public relations activities of the division; keeps records and prepares reports; performs other related duties as required. Responds to emergency calls on a 24 hour basis; may assist clerk/dispatchers as needed; may perform administrative assignments such as public speaking, prepara- tion and presentation of staff reports, liaison with animal volunteer groups and assistance with the school and neighborhood watch programs, EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education: Possession of an Associate in Arts degree or completion of 60 semester units of college courses. 5 years experience working in an animal control capacity, preferably with another public agency. Experience: Knowledge and Abilities: Able to demonstrate knowledge of the care and feeding of animals, especially household pets; ability to write reports, read and interpret animal control regulations and procedures, perform work requiring physical dexterity; ability to effectively assign, direct and supervise the work of others.
