Dear Mayor Brown, The American Lung Association of Orange County invites you to participate in Clean Air Month. Each year during May,the American Lung Association focuses its efforts on air quality. Statistics show our air quality has improved in recent years, but we still have a long way to go. Because air pollution is still a health threat, the Lung Association is planning meaningful activities for Clean Air Month in May,teaming up with commuters, corporations, school children and others. When you consider the fact that Orange County is ranked fifth among counties with the highest ozone levels in the country and that children with asthma are especially vulnerable to ozone pollution, you'll want to become part of the Clean Air Month, too. By participating in Clean Air Month you can help reduce air pollution and make a positive impact in your community. Enclosed is a template for a city proclamation. Please support our efforts to improve and protect the quality of health for every citizen. Your proclamation will be displayed in our American Lung Association offices, demonstrating to all of our volunteers and patrons the commitment you have to promoting clean air.
