Ra; DAN DOSERY STORY
Dan Dorsey came to the City of Seal Beach in 1946, just after World
War II. For the next 31 years, he lived in Seal Beach, and although he
now resides in Long Beach, he remains a dedicated employee to the
City of Seal Beach for over 41 years.
In 1959, Dan began his service for the city as a seawall lifeguard. Over
the next 34 years, he rose through the ranks to achieve the positions of
Lieutenant and ultimately Chief of the Lifeguard Department pausing
only to serve his country as in the Navy during the mid 1960's.
After an Honorable discharge, he returned to the city and continued
working as a lifeguard. During his tenure he attained a Master's Degree
in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach,
and continued to serve as a lifeguard until 1994. He continued to
augment his service as Assistant to the City Manager for the next 7
years. That brings us to today.
With over 40 years of service to the City of Seal Beach, Dan Dorsey has
dedicated his entire life to lifesaving and public service. He has touched
countless lives, and saved even more. Thank you.
