HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 3149 1982-04-26 WHEREAS, I WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, RESOLUTION NO. c:r,l~~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 2742 GIVING THE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION REGULATORY AUTHORITY OVER CABLE TELEVISION Assemblyman Richard Robinson has introduced Assembly Bill 2742 into the State Legislature; and Assembly Bill 2742 will take away the cities' authority to regulate cable television; and Cities now enjoy the right to regulate rates, local programming, channel requirements and service standards; and Assembly Bill 2742 would put a ten percent (JO%) gross receipt tax on the cable subscriber; and Cable television is best regulated at the local level. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby oppose Assembly Bill 2742 and urge its defeat in the State Legislature.
