A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
A TRASH COLLECTION VEHICLE
WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of pounds of refuse are deposited into the
City's 55-gallon trash receptacles throughout the beach annually; and,
WHEREAS, City maintenance staff lifts and empties nearly 25,000 trash
receptacles on a yearly basis and cost the City approximately 2,000 staff hours;
and,
WHEREAS, the purchase of a trash collection vehicle reduces probability of staff
injury and labor costs; and,
WHEREAS, the Broyhill Load-and-Pack is a specialized single operator vehicle
designed for refuse removal on beaches and other natural terrains; and,
WHEREAS, Seal Beach Municipal Code Section 3.20.025(B) provides an
exemption from competitive bidding requirements for purchases of commodity
that can be obtained only from one vendor; and,
WHEREAS, Broyhill is the sole source manufacturer and supplier of the Load-
and-Pack refuse vehicle; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves and authorizes the purchase of
one trash collection vehicle at a total cost of $165.549.00.
Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve
expenditure for the new vehicle and payment of all State taxes and
fees required for delivery for vehicle purchase.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Seal Beach City Council at a
regular meeting held on the 10th day of October, 2022 by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members: Kalmick, Massa-Lavitt, Moore, Sustarsic
NOES: Council Members: None
ABSENT: Council Members: Varipapa
ABSTAIN: Council Members: None
