AGENDA REPORT
DATE:
October 23, 2006
TO:
Honorable Mayor and City Council
THRU:
FROM:
John B. Bahorski, City Manager
Joe Bailey
Lifeguard Captain
SUBJECT:
Budget Amendment - Junior Lifeguard Program
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
That Council approve the attached budget amendment resolution to increase the budget for
Junior Lifeguard wages by $23,000.
BACKGROUND:
The Junior Lifeguard program increased the number of children allowed to participate from 300
to 350 during this past summer season. The increase in participants provided an additional
$23,000 in revenue to the program. However, a corresponding increase in staffing levels was
also required in order to accommodate the increase in program participants. As a result, the
Junior Lifeguard wage account (034-828-40006) requires a proportionate increase in the amount
of$23,OOO.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact as the increase in program revenues offsets the increase in program
costs.
RECOMMENDATION:
That Council approve the Budget Amendment Resolution increasing the Junior Lifeguard wages
account (034-828-40006) by $23,000.
