TIME SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES AND REPEALING ON THE EFFECTIVE DATE SPECIFIED, ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California prescribes a procedure for resolving matters regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment; and I WHEREAS, part-time salary ranges have been updated to meet Federal and State minimum wage standards; and WHEREAS, part-time salary ranges have been updated to provide multiple steps within a range and to provide for a five percent increase in between each step; and WHEREAS, ranges for Administrative Intern, Maintenance Aide, Part-Time Account ClerklWater Meter Reader and Part-Time Marine Lifeguard positions have been updated to reflect duties, educational, specialized training, licenses and/or certification and skill needed; and WHEREAS, if an employee is hired on a part-time basis to an existing classification, that employee shall be paid at the hourly equivalent of the assigned step within the assigned range for that job classification. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Seal Beach hereby adopts the salary schedule for part-time positions as follows: Section 1. Specialtv Pavs A. I B. C. D. E. Lifeguard Emergencv Medical Training Certification CEMT) - It is in the City's best interest to retain beach lifeguards who have a current EMT certification. A $0.75 an hour "enhancement pay" shall be added to the assigned rate of pay for Beach Lifeguards who possess and maintain current EMT certification. Jr. Lifeguard Instructor - Employees assigned as a Jr. Lifeguard Instructor will be paid an additional $0.70 per hour during the hours in which Jr. Lifeguard instruction is provided. Boat Skipper - Employees assigned as a Boat Skipper will be paid $23.00 per hour during the hours in which Boat Skipper duties are performed. Boat Skipper pay is in lieu of, and not in addition to, the base hourly rate. Beach Operations Suoervisor - Employees assigned as a Beach Operations Supervisor will be paid $20.00 per hour during the hours in which Beach Operations Supervision duties are performed. Beach Operations Supervisor pay is in lieu of, and not in addition to, the base hourly rate. Private Instruction - Employees who provide private swim instruction will be paid $20.00 per hour during the hours in which private swim instruction is provided. Private instruction pay is in lieu of, and not in addition to, the base hourly rate. Section 3. Part-Time Assil!:llment to Full-Time Classification When it is in the best interest of the City to fill a full-time classification as part-time, the rate of pay shall be the hourly equivalent of the assigned step within the adopted salary range.
