Under his stewardship, Caduceus Medical Group, has become an integral part of our city. Dr. DeNicola's passion for preserving history extends beyond healthcare. He founded the Citrus Historic and Preservation League, honoring the trains that shaped Orange County and celebrating the citrus industry's vital role in its growth. As you know, the DeNicola s purchased the Seal Beach Water Tower, demonstrating a keen interest in Orange County's architectural heritage. Your iconic water tower, originally built in the 19th century to service steam engines and provide water to the area, faced the threat of removal in the 1980s. Thanks to the Sunset Beach Water Tower Campaign, it was saved and transformed into one of the world's most unique residences. Similarly, Dr. DeNicola's commitment to maintaining and celebrating this iconic structure aligns with his broader dedication to preserving local history. As Historic Preservationists, Dr. Gregg and Mary DeNicola are part of the fabric of the Yorba Linda community and held in high esteem. The DeNicolas have pledged to make this tower available to others, who can vacation there and experience a unique piece of Orange County History they can be trusted to keep their word. In my role as a City Councilman in Yorba Linda, I have witnessed firsthand Dr. DeNicola's unwavering commitment to significant causes that enhance our community's quality of life. His heart of service and dedication to civic pride make him a true champion for the betterment of not only our city but the entire region. I wholeheartedly commend Dr. DeNicola for his leadership and commitment to creating, preserving, and celebrating the Seal Beach Water Tower as a unique community jewel. His passion for history, coupled with a genuine desire to educate others, will undoubtedly contribute to the continued enhancement of our shared heritage. Sincerely, Councilman Carlos Rodriguez City of Yorba Linda Subject: Support for Conditional Use Permit for Gregg and Mary DeNicola Dear Gloria Harper-City Clark, Seal Beach, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my strong support for Gregg and Mary DeNicola's application for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) related to their property. My family and I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with the DeNicolas shortly after their move into the neighborhood, and we share a deep love for our community. As fellow healthcare providers, we have not only bonded over our professional experiences but also developed a strong sense of camaraderie in our shared commitment to the well-being of our community. Recently, we became aware of the DeNicolas' application for a CUP through the Notice of Public Hearing that was mailed to us. Having lived merely three houses away from the Tower, my family and I can attest to the fact that we have never experienced any disturbances related to noise or traffic. The DeNicolas have been considerate neighbors, and we believe their application for a CUP should be approved. Furthermore, Gregg and Mary DeNicola have been exceptionally generous in sharing their knowledge of the Seal Beach Water Tower’s history through historic tours with our family and visiting friends. Their commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of our community reflects their genuine love and appreciation for our neighborhood. In addition to being exemplary neighbors, the DeNicolas have consistently demonstrated their commitment to community education. They offer educational tours to all who ask, sharing valuable insights into the Tower's rich history in our community. Their willingness to engage with residents and visitors alike, providing educational opportunities, enhances the cultural fabric of our quaint community. Thank you for considering our perspective on this matter. We trust that the decision-making process will take into account the positive contributions the DeNicolas have made to our community and the lack of any observed disruptions associated with their property. Considering their positive impact on the community and our personal experience living in close proximity to their property, we wholeheartedly support Gregg and Mary DeNicola's ability to rent their space for overnight stays. We believe this would not only be beneficial for them but also contribute positively to the overall atmosphere of our beachside community. As a recent visitor to the water tower, I can personally share my fascination and respect for this iconic property. The fact that the owners want to share the experience and history of this treasured property with others should be applauded. A bit of history on Gregg. He is educated and informed. He has been a leading physician in Yorba Linda and Laguna Beach for 40 years. As the Founder of CADUCEUS Medical, he has grown his businesses over 25 years, expanding into Orange County. Gregg supports the senior population of Laguna Beach by dedicating his time as a board member of Laguna Seniors. But more importantly, Gregg is on the board of directors of the Laguna Beach Historical Society, serving as a past president and constant supporter. He writes regularly in local news sources on the history of Laguna Beach. Often digging up long forgotten facts and photos of a bygone era. His depth of research and passion for historical accuracy is unparalleled. One of Greggs most visible accomplishments is his preservation and design of the Packing House in Yorba Linda. Gregg founded the Citrus Historic and Preservation League, honoring the era of trains and citrus. Fascinating history, inspiring accomplishment. During my tour of The Seal Beach water Tower, it was evident how much research and passion went into this project. His intent is to make the Water Tower an icon for Seal Beach to be proud of, honoring its history while maintaining it as a single family residence. Gregg has the experience and pedigree to accomplish this. Every detail fact checked.....ready to share with others. I highly recommend a rental CUP for this treasured piece of local history. The trains. The water. The history. The views. Breathtaking. With regards, Heidi A. Miller Entrepreneur Historical Advocate Gloria Harper, City Clerk City of Seal Beach Dear Seal Beach Planning Commission, We are writing in support of the Conditional Use Permit for Mary & Gregg DeNicola and the iconic Seal Beach Water Tower House. We love that visiting guests have the opportunity to enjoy The Tower from the inside and we support it being available for overnight stays. As residents of Seal Beach imagine our surprise & excitement when our long-time friends The DeNicolas purchased that property. Since first spotting The Tower in about 1986, we have admired one of the most unique buildings in Seal Beach and hoped its history would be passed along for generations to come. Plus, we’d always wished we could go inside to take in the best view of the Pacific for miles around! We’ve known the DeNicolas for decades and admire their tireless & generous historic preservationist activities throughout Orange County. We are convinced that passion will include the Seal Beach Water Tower. Thus, we are comforted by their intentions to preserve The Tower not for just themselves, but for others to experience. While many seek the vacation rental approach purely for profit, The DeNicolas find great joy in sharing with & educating visitors about the importance of the jewel of Seal Beach.
