ORDINANCE NO. //~ I AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH RELATING TO THE UTILITY USERS TAX AND AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Article VIII, Chapter is amended to read: Subsection (a) of Section 22.61-1, 22 of the Code of the City of Seal Beach (a) The tax imposed by this article shall not apply to any individual sixty-five years of age or older who uses telephone, electric, or gas services, in or upon any premises occupied by such individual, provided that the com- bined adjusted gross income, as such term is used for Federal income tax purposes, for the calendar year prior to the fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th) for which the exemption provided in this section is applied, of all members of the household in which such individual resided is less than the following: Exemption I July 1, 1983 $6,500 July 1, 1984 8,000 July 1, 1985 9,500 July 1, 1986 11,000 July 1, 1987 and each July 1 there- after 12,000 Notwithstanding the foregoing, the exemption provided by this section shall not be applicable unless such exemption is applied for by the service user and granted in accordance I with the provisions of subsection (b) he~eo . fASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 9tt day of. _!t../I_- ,(~~ , 1982.
