ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
There were none at the designated time, however, the
members of the commission agreed to interrupt their regular
business in order to hear a speaker who had been unavoidably
late in arrival.
Jane McCloud, Co-Chair of the Gumgrove Park restoration
committee, spoke regarding the committee's desire to
preserve and promote the use of the Gumgrove Park. She
discussed a tentative budget to cover such items as removal
of downed trees, irrigation, tree replacement, security
gates, tables and benches, signage and road improvement.
The budgeted estimate was figured at $20,000-$27,000.
In response to a request for financial aid from the
commission, it was suggested that, because of very limited
funds, it had been the practice of the commission to assist
with park developments but that committees for development
were expected to also share in the task of raising funds.
The commission agreed to recommend the appropriation of
$5,000 of Quimby funds to pay for the professional
assessment of needs, especially in the matter of irrigation.
MSC. 3 for, 1 abstain.
