SEAL BEACH PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Minutes of 3-23-94
The Seal Beach Parks and Recreation Commission met in
regular session on Wednesday, March 23, 1994. The meeting
was called to order by Chairman Dick Davies at 7:35 PM.
ROLL CALL
Present - Davies, Finch, Thomas, Watson and
Whyte
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The minutes were approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS -

Dorothy Whyte inquired if the word "Easter" had been
dropped from the title and promotional material for the
spring parade as had been suggested by two of her
constituents. It was agreed that the title "Easter Parade"
had been changed to a spring celebration idea.
The Director presented a draft of the policy covering the
reservation and use of city parks and athletic facilities.
Several recommendations were agreed upon by the commission
and were to be incorporated. The Director stated that the
final draft would be available for the May meeting at which
time the Commission could take final action on the matter.
ORAL COMMUNICATION
Lori Craig made a presentation to the Commission re the
proposed fence for the south boundary of Marina Park. She
reported that wrought iron and slump stone were the intended
materials and that funding was available - $5000 from the
Seal Beach Junior Women's Club and the remaining $2000+ from
the City.
Lori Craig additionally reported that she had obtained
funding from the local MacDonald's owner for a three month
trial period of providing a portable restroom for Marina
Park.

A motion was made to commend Lori Craig for her interest in
improving Marina Park, and to express the Commission's
appreciation of the Seal Beach Junior Women's Club's
donation. Davies/Watson. Approved.
NEW BUSINESS
.
A motion was made to accept the report regarding the
progress made by the Founders Day Committee in the matter of
realignment and assignment of specific responsibilities.
Whyte/Johnson. Approved.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The Director addressed the Community Development Block Grant
program which will provide "scholarships" for recreation
programs and for pre-SChool day care. He distributed a
report covering the fall recreation classes - their
enrollment and revenues and he presented a report showing
the 92-93 project income for the Recreation Department to be
an estimated $288,000.
