The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in r~oular session in the Council
Chambers on Tuesday, September 6,1977. The meeting was' called to order by Chair-
men Harding at 7:35 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
There were no oral communications.
I'JRITTEN COI1MlINICATIONS
Invitation from Goldenwest College to attend dedication of new jogging and exercise
course was read and discussed.

OLD BtlSINESS
A. Skateboard Park - Osteen reported on progress, in securing possible proposals
for the development of a skateboard park in the City of Seal Beach.
B. Tennis Court Resurfacing - Osteen reported on the schedule for resurfacing the
Heather Park tennis courts and the cause for delay in the construction of the Marina
Park courts. The Commission agreed that if plans could not be com~leted by our
Engineering Department within the next thirty days that a memorandum should go to
City Council recommending that an outside firm be contracted to draw up the plans and
s~ecifications. This direction was given due to the dangerous (slick) court conditions
and the increasing cost of construction.
NEl1 BUSINESS
A. Expansion of North Seal Beach Community Center - Possible expansion of the North
Seal Beach facility in order to increase community services and to provide additional
storage was discussed. It l'Ias the Commission's feeling that Park & Recreation fees
collected from sub-divisions in the immediate area should be used for the project.
B. Election of Officers - Payne nominated Harding for Chairman. Torem moved nomina-
tions be closed. It was unanimous, Harding is nel'l Chairman.
Payne nominated Torero for Vice-Chairman. Parmelee moved nominations be closed.,. It
was unanimous, Torem is new Vice-Chairman.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved, seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
