SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, July 9, 197~, in the Council Chambers, City Administration Building. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Harding at 7:~0 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. ROLL CALL Present: Absent: Harding. Parmelee, Torem Case, Payne " : " APPROVAL OF MINUTES " " It was moved, seconded, and unanimOUSly approved to accept the minutes of June 5" 197~ as written. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS A; Market Day. Heidi Hartman, Community Center Coordinator. presented guidelines for a Market Day. Discussion followed. Torem moved, Parmelee second. to recommend to City Council that a Recreation Depart- ment sponsored Market Day, to be held Saturday, August 10 from lO:OO a.m. to ~:oo p.m. at Marina Park with Heidi Hartman in charge. b~ approved, the business license fee of $5.00 per person be waived, and the guidelines be forwarded to City Council for approval. It was unanimously approved. B. Push Car Race. Miss Hartman presented her ideas for a push car race and discus- sion followed. Torem moved, Parmelee second to recommend to City Council that a Push Car Race. to be held on a Saturday or Sunday no later than September 30, be approved. It was further moved that guidelines be set and submitted to the Commission August 6 for recommendation to City Council before the event is, held. It was unanimOUSly approved. C. Commissioners were informed that the City Manager had requested they park in the city parking lot when attending City Council meetings. D. Commissioners were informed that an appointment had not been made to fill the vacancy created by an expired term. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS A. Commission Workshop. and it was suggested that Discussion was held. Parmelee indicated he would attend Case and Payne be contacted. " OLD BUSINESS A. Youth Commission. Parmelee moved. Harding second, to approve the guidelines as amended. It was unanimOUSly approved. Torem moved, Parmelee second to submit amended guidelines to City Council for final approva1. It was unanimOUSly approved. NEW BUSINESS A. Heather Park Dedication. It was requested that all Commissioners be contacted regarding the time of the dedication set for Saturday, July 27.
