SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION
The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in
regular session on Wednesday, July 28, 1993 in regular
session in the City Council chambers.

Absent - Davies, Thomas
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
(see enclosure).
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS The Director reported on the
department's added responsibility of the SPECIAL EVENTS
CALENDAR, the quality of instruction at the McGaugh pool,
and the formation of a citizen interest committee to explore
the financing of an Edison Park enhancement.

OLD BUSINESS

Beach Tot Lot - The sponsoring group, the Junior Women's
Club, officially gifted the Tot Lot to the City at the July
26, 1993 City Council meeting. Its care and repair now
become the responsibility of the City.
Founder's Day Committee Dorothy Whyte reported that the
logo would be red in color and not combined with any ad lay-
out. She reviewed the calendar of events for October: The
Chambers tentative carnival was postponed, the PTA Carnival
returned to the third week-end, and the Masquerade Ball and
Green Belt festivities will be held the fourth week-end.
The commission ratified the
appointment of additional parties to the Founder's Day
Committee. See the enclosed list for specific names.
PARK NEEDS ASSESSMENT Staff presented a list of capital
improvements needed at the city's parks. It was the
expressed intention of the Founder's Day Committee to
publish this list in the hopes that it would encourage
specific goals for donations during the Founder's Day
program.

PARK USE/RESERVATION POLICY Dorothy Whyte suggested that
the Commission might undertake the drafting of such a
document. The Director advised that he and Kirk Zuniga were
in the process. (The first document is enclosed.)
