SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION
The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in special session on Tuesday,
December 1, 1992 in City Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by
Chairman Thomas at 7:32 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.

SPECIAL AGENDA ITEMS
A. Proposed Beach Tot Lot Refurbishment
Per City Council direction, the Commission reviewed the proposed plans
for the redevelopment of the Beach Tot Lot. After receiving additional
community input, the Commission unanimously recommended that Council
approve the plans as presented by the Jr. Woman's Club and direct staff
to take the necessary steps to implement the project.
B. Proposed Marina Park Tot Lot Refurbishment
Several groups were present to speak on the Marina Park project relative
to the selection and funding of the Tot Lot equipment. After
considerable discussion and oral communication, the Parks & Recreation
Commission unanimously recommended to City Council the Quimby monies now
available be used to:
1.
Enlarge the existing Tot Lot area, purchase and install new
playground equipment, and install a wall along Marina Drive
between the tennis courts and the community center building.
2. Retain and keep open the Marina Park Trust Fund to receive
donations to complete the community center repairs/improvements
(new doors, new heating system, enclose patio area with taller
wall, and construct a dumpster enclosure) that were originally
scheduled for completion with the Quimby funds.
3. Have City Council appoint (at their earliest convenience) a five
member committee to work on fund raising programs and the selection
of playground equipment and other amenities, such as walls, etc.
for the Marina Tot Lot.
