SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in regular session on Wednesday, October 24, 1990, in City Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Petersen and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. ROLL CALL Present: Absent: Finch, Petersen, Procter, Thomas, Williams None APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of January 24, 1990 were approved as written. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS There were no oral communications. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS See Item "A" under New Business. ELECTION OF OFFICERS On a motion by Howard, second by Finch it was recommended that the terms present Chairman and Vice-Chairman be extended for one additional term. motion was unanimously approved. of the The OLD BUSINESS The request for a sand volleyball court at College Park was discussed. No Commission action was taken. The installation of new playground equipment at Heather Park was discussed. A citizens committee was formed to study and make recommendations as to the type of equipment the community would like to see installed. Discussion also covered the vandalism problems at Heather Park. Commissioner Howard made a motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Finch to look in to the possible passage of an ordinance which would close Heather Park between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. The motion was approved and Osteen was directed to research the issue. NEW BUSINESS A petition from local residents was read regarding the possible installation of a basketball backboard on the Heather Park tennis courts. Discussion followed and Osteen was directed to determine costs prior to the next Commission meeting. ADJOURNMENT On a motion by Commissioner Howard, second by Commissioner Thomas the meeting was adjourned at 9:08 p.m. to a future date to be established by the Secretary. ~/~~ ~k Osteen, Secretary
