SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION
.
The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in regular session on
Wednesday, June 11, 1986 in City Council Chambers. The meeting was called
to order by Chairman Weiler at 7:39 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was
given.
ROLL CALL
Present: La Bar, Proctor, Reilly, Thomas, Weiler
Absent: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of February 12, 1986 were approved as written.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
During oral communications Commissioner La Bar announced that he would not
seek re-appointment when his term on the Parks and Recreation Commission
expires on July 1, 1986. The Commission thanked Mr. La Bar for his years of
dedicated service to the community and recommended a resolution be drawn up
in his honor.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
There were no written communications.

OLD BUSINESS
A. Commissioner Weiler gave a report on the fishing problem and community
gardens at Edison Park and will give an update at the next Commission
meeting.
B. Osteen reported on the progress of the A.F.R.C. Park project. The
Commission requested that this item also appear on the next Commission
agenda.
NEW BUSINESS
A. A letter from the Project Director of the senior citizen nutrition pro-
gram requesting funds to assist in the employment of a site manager was
read. Discussion followed and on a motion by Commissioner Reilly it
was unanimously approved to recommend that City Council include $ 5,000
in the FY 1986-87 budget to cover this expense.
B. The possible loss of the Swim Team Coach, due to manditory budget cuts,
was discussed. Commissioner La Bar moved, second by Commissioner Thomas,
to request that City Council give strong consideration to retaining the
Swim Team Coach in the FY 1986-87 budget.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Reilly moved, second by Commissioner Howard, to adjourn the meet-
ing at 8:51 p.m.
