SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS CO~'ISSION
The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in a regular adjourned session
on Thursday, December 12, 1985 in City Council Chambers. The meeting was called
to order by Chairman Weiler at 7:30 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.
ROLL CALL
Present: La Bar, Proctor, Reilly, Weiler
Absent: Thomas
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of November 13, 1985, were approved as written.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
There were no oral communications.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
Osteen presented information on request from City Council (through the City Manager)
for copies of any resolutions or ordinances detailing the duties and functions of
the Parks and Recreation Commission. Discussion followed and a motion was made
by Commissioner Reilly. with unanimous approval, to direct a memorandum to City
Council requesting that the Parks and Recreation Commission be included in the
formulation of future land or in-lieu fee dedications provided these dedications
are for park or recreation purposes.
NEW BUSINESS
The Edison Park Community Gardens and the 1985 Cancer Society lOK Run were discussed
with no Commission action taken.
OLD BUSINESS
Park In-Lieu Fees were discussed. No further action was taken on this item.
The Armed Forces Reserve Center Park was discussed and Commissioner LaBar requested
information on whether the wall fronting the service road, between the pedestrian
entrance at Heather Street and the vehicular entrance, was to be removed for the
safety of the children who would be walking behind it. A report from the Engineer-
ing Department will be made at the next Commission meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Reilly moved, second by La Bar. to adjourn the meeting at 8:19 p.m.
