Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission
The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in regular session on Wednesday,
July 11, 1984, in the Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by
Chairman Thomas at 7:30 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of April 11, 1984 were approved astWritten.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
There were no oral communications.
OLD BUSINESS
Osteen reported on progress of repairs to Zoeter bleachers. No action was necessary.
NEW BUSINESS
A. The election of new officers was conducted. Commissioner Thomas was re-elected
for a second term as Commission Chairman and Commissioner Weiler was elected to
the position of Vice-Chairman.
B. The Recreation Department Brochure was discussed and it was recommended that
more space be given to publicize facility rentals.
C. Osteen reported on the progress of the Marina Park extension project. No
Commission action was necessary.
D. Community Center use was discussed. The Commission was pleased that revenue had
increased during the past year.
E. Commission evaluated request for possible swing set to be placed at east end of
Greenbelt area. After a lengthy discussion, a motion was made by Weiler,
second by Gran~. not to install the swing set for reasons of safety and potential
for vandalism. The motion was unanimously approved.
F. Commissioner Weiler brou9ht up problems of parking at Edison Park created by
fishermen. Osteen to contact Police Department and Public Works on possible
posting.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Reilly moved, second by Grant to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
