SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION The Seal Beach Recreation and Park Commission met in regular session on Wednesday, August 10, 19B3 in.the Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Chairman LaBar at 7:36 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. ROLL CALL Present: Absent: Grant, LaBar, Levine, Reilly, Thomas None APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of May 11, 1983 were approved as written. ELECTION OF OFFICERS At 7:40 p.m. Chairman LaBar amended the agenda and conducted the election of officers. Levine was elected Vice-Chainman and Thomas was elected Chairman. At this point Thomas took over as Cha i nna'1. . ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Thomas brought up the subject of drinking and the use of profane language at adult softball games at Zoeter School Softball Field. Discussion followed and on a motion by Levine, second by LaBar, it was recommended that a request be made to the Police Department to have an officer do a walk-through at various times to improve the situation. NEI~ BUSINESS Pier Restoration - Pier funding was discussed; no action was taken. Bicycle Registration Program - Transfer of program to the Fire Department was discussed; no action was taken. Zoeter Field - Future of Zoeter Field and funds for restoration were discussed. Commission indicated a desire to meet with Los Alamitos School District personnel. Osteen to arrange. Small Boat Marina - Feasibility study was discussed; no action was taken. Rental of Facilities - Various forms of advertising were discussed. On a motion by LaBar, second by Levine, it was recommended taht an ad be placed in the "Wedding Section" of The Register and that Gail Knapp be contacted regarding an ad in the Press-Telegram. Ad pro~ram to run for four weeks with report on results to b~ prepared for Commission. OLD BUSINESS Commission By-Laws were discussed but no action was taken.
