SEAL BEACH RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, April 8, 1980 in the City Council Chambers. The meetin9 was called to order by Chairman Torem at 7:45_p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was given. ROLL CALL Present: Ehler, Harding, Moerbeek, Torem - Absent: Flint , APPROVAL OF MINUTES ' Due to the lack of a.quorum of Commissioners present at the meeting of June'12; 1979. Harding moved, Jorem second, to send the minutes to the two past Commissioners for. their approval. It was unanimously approved. '. Ehler moved, Moerbeek second. to approve the minutes of November 27. 1979, It was unanimously-approved. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Secretary Osteen thanked Commissioner Ehler for the generous donation of paper stock for the Spring Brochure. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS ,Qsteen read a_letter from the Lord Mayor of Sidney, Australia regarding a recent visit made by Commissioner Moerbeek. .--_ - ..- OLD BUSINESS - A. ,S.B. 174 Grant -- 'McGaug~ Diamond. Osteen reported and discu~~ion followed. '-- -. . B. City-School District Maintenance Agreement. Commissioners w~re presented with the proposed agreement--drafted -by the School - Board',--- Lengthy di scussion followed. Commissioners requested copies of the original proposal submitted by the School District. It was moved, and seconded to conduct an adjourned regliJar meeting on May 7 to di5cuss agreement further before sending recommendations to City Council. AYES: Harding, Moerbeek, Torem NOES: Ehler Motion carded. NEW BUSINESS- A. Los AJamitos Retard'ing Basin. Osteen reported that Commission WilS to rccorrmend to City Council possible uses for the retarding basin. Discussion followed. Ehler moved, Moerbeek second, staff secure grant money for soil analysis and ~~asi. bility study, and conduct community needs survey, AYES: Ehler, -Harding, .Moerbeek, Torem NOES: None.', , - -!.. ..' Motion carried. B. Tour of Facilities~, It was unanimously agreed that Commissioners'would me~t at ---the-iJolly Roger forbrea'kfas't-'at-8:-30-a-;m;---on-Sunday, April 20, after which they would conduct a tour of park facilities. . . ,: .< . -to . Ehler moved, Hardin9-~econd. to recommend to City Council that registration for . the Adult Slo-Pitch League be on a continuing basis (teams continue year to year) as opposed to first come, first served. .
