The Seal Beach Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session on Tuesday,
June 1, 1971 in the Council Chambers, City Administration Building. The meeting
was called to order by Vice-Chairman Kredell at 7:42 p.m. and the Pledge of
Allegiance was given.
ROLL CALL
Present: Herrera, Iseda, Kredell, Torem
Absent: Dreyer
APPROVAL OF l,lINUTES
Herrera moved, second by Torem, to approve the minutes of May 4, 1971.

ORAL CO~~'U~ICATIONS
Ned Cisco, 701 Bayside, president of the Kid's Baseball Association, spoke on the
<e need for additional baseball and football fields within the city to handle increas..:
ing demands which are being placed on existing facilities.
Iseda moved, Herrera second, to approach North American and the Naval Weapons
Station regarding the acquisition of land for baseball diamonds and a football field.

There were no written communications.
OLD BUSINESS
The commissioners directed Osteen to request the City Council, through the City
Manager, to inform them on the latest park developments, including First Street
Beach.

The commission further requested that a special meeting of the Recreation Commission
be called on June 15, 1971 in the Council ChaMbers, to discuss open space parcels
for possible future park development in Seal Beach and how the possible Los Alamitos
~ Naval Air Station development might affect Seal Beach residents. Commission
requested that an invitation be extended to City Manager Robert Myers and to Bob
Neprud of the Planning Department.

Torem moved, Kredell second, to direct a memorandum to Chairman Dreyer, by
registered mail requesting an answer with regard to his future position on the
Park and Recreation Commission since he has missed three consecutive meetings.

Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Iseda moved, Kredell second, to adjourn the meeting at 9;45 p.~.
