SEAL BEACH PARK AND RECREATION CO~~IISSION
~ The Seal Beach Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session on Tuesday,
~my 4, 1971 in the Council Chambers, City Administration Building. The meeting
was called to order by Vice-Chairman Krcdell at 7:50 P.M. and the Pledge of .
Allegiance folloNed.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ilerrera moved, second by Iseda, to approve the minutes of April 6, 1971.

OLD BUSINESS.
1. Symphony Program. Iseda movcd, second by Kredell, to table discussion until
the next meeting.
AYES: Herrera, Iseda, Kredell

2. Bicycle Paths. Iseda reported on the City Council (May 3, 1971) discussion
pertaining to designating and signing of bicycle paths.

Osteen reported the San Diego Planning Department had sent an informative booklet
on the trails in and around their city, and that Santa Barbara and Freemont had
been requested to send literature also.
Osteen reported on his conversation with Mr. Jim Funk of the Orange County Planning
Department regarding coordination of bicycle paths tllroughout the county.

Discussion followed. Iseda suggested Sunset Magazine as another source of
information.
Iseda moved, second by Herrera, to table discussion.

3. Salary Survey. Osteen indicated that Lifeguard Salary Survey had~een taken
under advisement by City Manager.
4. Recreation Programs.

Osteen explained the eXisting specialized programs and
summer special activities, and the tentative programs in the budget.
5. Gum Grove Park. Osteen reported that a clean up prograr.J involving approximately
200 youngsters had been scheduled. First phase of park development will include
fencing and an access road.
6. College Park East Park Sites. Location and size of proposed park at Lampson

and Heather was discussed as well as status of proposed Bluebell Park.
NEW BUSINESS
Kredell moved, second by Herrera, to table discussion of Mobile Park Unit and Book
Mobile until next meeting.

Motion Carried.
Osteen proposed a tour of Lifeguard Headquarters along with an explanation of
beach operations. Saturday, May 8, 9:30 a.m., was set tentatively.
