SEAL BEACH PARK AND RECREATION CO~IMISSION
The Seal Beach Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session on TUesday,
Fehruary 2, 1971, in the Council Chambers, City Administration Building. The meeting
was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Dreyer. The Pledge of Allegiance
followed.
ROLL CALL
Present: Dreyer, Herrera, Iseda, Kredell
Absent: Torem
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Herrera moved, second by Iseda, to approve the minutes of January 5, 1971 as corrected
and the minutes of January 12, 1971 as corrected.
AYES: Dreyer, Herrera, Iseda, Kredell
NOES: None Motion Carried.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Eric Lindstrom, 215-14th Street, representing a high school ecology group, requested
the Commission investigate the possibility of creating bike paths in Seal Beach along
Seal Beach Blvd., Marina Drive, and/or any new or existing roadways.
Iseda moved, second by Herrera, to have Osteen direct bicycle path study compiled by
Newport Beach along with Commission recommendation to City Engineers for study.

NOES: None Motion Carried.
WRITTEN Cm,tMuNICATIONS
There were no written communications.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Mrs. Carrie Raines, 735 Carmel Avenue, explained to the Commissioners the ideas
behind ,the proposed Teen Center Project.

Iseda moved, second by Kredell, the Commission send a letter to the oloJner of the
building at Main and Electric regarding the possibility of leasing.

2. Portions of the tape of City Council Meeting, January 19, 1971, were played for
the Commissioners regarding the communication sent to Council and Commissioner Torem's
discussion of same.
3. ~Ir. Armond Roles, 13320 Del Monte Drive, read a report from the sub-committee
studying the propose~ symphony project.
Mr. Edward Held, 13701 Annandale Drive, reported that the auditorium at McGaugh School
would be suitable for symphony presentations.
Dreyer moved, second by Iseda, to have the Secretary prepare a questionaire to determine
citizen response to the proposed symphony program.

4. Commission discussed possible letter to City Council supporting Council's position
regarding freeway ramps affecting proposed Bluebell Park site. Commission chose to
table discussion until March 2nd meeting.

~layor Morton A. Baum introduced the new City ~Ianager, Mr. Robert ~lyers', to the
Commissioners.
ADJOURNMENT
Iseda moved, second by Herrera, to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 P.H.
