Subject:Hellman Solar Project Proposal - Request for a full EIR
Dear City Council Members,
I write to you with grave concern over the possible approval of this proposed project. While solar seems
like a proper environmentally sound solution for green energy, in this case it is doubtful. As always there
are nuanced circumstances to be considered and it behoves all of us to take a closer look at the impact
of this project.
The project site sits adjacent to the Los Cerritos Wetlands where years of cavalier decimation are finally
being reversed thanks to the hard fought efforts of many to raise significant awareness and funds for
restoration. In spite of its current condition, it is home to many endangered species who have managed
to hold on in this special area. Let's not reverse this effort.
In light of the gaining momentum to restore the last 500 acres of the Los Cerritos wetlands, I urge you to
join in this effort and rule in favor of a full Environmental Impact study. Please step back to consider the
lasting destructive impact of implementing this project.
