HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 7731 2026-1-26 RESOLUTION 7731 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN-COUNCIL OLYMPICS ADVISORY AD-HOC COMMITTEE WHEREAS, at the November 8, 2025, City Council Strategic Planning Session, City Council directed staff to bring forward an item to establish a Citizen-Council Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee to assist with planning for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. NOW, THEREFORE, the Seal Beach City Council does resolve, declare, determine, and order as follows: Section 1. The City Council hereby establishes the Citizen-Council Olympics Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee ("Committee"). Section 2. The Committee shall be comprised of two (2) council members and up to ten at-large community stakeholders. Each council member will nominate two (2) stakeholders, for a total of up to 12 committee members. Section 3. Each citizen committee member shall be a stakeholder in the Seal Beach community and possess knowledge, education, or experience in event planning, multi-sport events, or community outreach, with experience related to previous Olympic Games preferred, or other expertise that will support the Committee's purpose related to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Section 4. All committee members shall be expected to actively participate by attending all meetings, engaging in focused discussions, reviewing and analyzing relevant materials, and providing recommendations to support the Committee's objectives. Section 5. The Committee shall provide recommendations and advise the City Council on the City's plans for the 2028 Olympics. Section 6. The Committee will call meetings monthly, with meeting frequency subject to adjustment as deemed necessary by the Committee and based on the availability of staff and committee members. Meetings will be conducted in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act. Section 7. The City Manager or his designee(s) will provide staff support to the Committee. Section 8. The City Clerk shall post the Notice of Vacancy for the Committee and open the application process.
