The local Indigenous community is asserting that an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is warranted due to the sensitivity of the ecosystem, the ancient sacred Tong'va burial grounds and the need for habitat restoration that supports endangered species currently struggling to recover. We believe this level of environmental review is appropriate for a project that could have significant impacts on the wetland wildlife residing in this rare and fragile habitat. We ask that our Seal Beach local Indigenous perspectives and concerns be formally shared with the City Council. Our intent is not adversarial; rather, we aim to partner and collaborate with the landowners, project proponents, and the City to identify solutions that respect cultural heritage, environmental stewardship, and responsible development. We have great ideas to contribute for the betterment of all living beings residing in and around the area. We pledge to collaborate in good faith and are also willing to help raise money to help pay for the EIR. Please let us know your availability and the appropriate next steps to convene this discussion before approving this solar farm construction.
