66th ANNUAL NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
May 17 — 23, 2026
"Rooted in Service, Powered by Community"
WHEREAS, public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities, and services that are of vital
importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to public health, high quality of life, and well-
being of the people of the City of Seal Beach; and,
WHEREAS, these infrastructure, facilities, and services could not be provided without the dedicated
efforts of public works professionals, who are engineers, managers, operators, and employees at all
levels of government and the private sector, who are responsible for rebuilding, improving, and
protecting our nation's transportation, water supply, water treatment and sanitary sewer systems,
public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential for our citizens; and,
WHEREAS, public works professionals, often regarded as the 'silent arm of public safety,' play a
critical role as first responders, offering unwavering support to emergency support teams with
dedication and bravery, safeguarding essential services with steadfast commitment, and playing a
vital role in restoring those services in the aftermath of emergency events; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders, and children in Seal Beach to gain
knowledge of and maintain an ongoing interest and understanding of the importance of public works
and public works programs in their respective communities; and,
WHEREAS, the year 2026 marks the 66th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the
American Public Works Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, THAT I, Mayor Landau, and Members of the Seal Beach
City Council, do hereby designate the week of May 17-23, 2026, as National Public Works Week,
and urge all citizens to join with representatives of the American Public Works Association and
government agencies in activities, events, and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works
professionals, and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national
health, safety, and advancing quality of life for all.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereby affix my signature and the seal of the City of Seal Beach on this
eleventh day of May in the year two thousand and twenty-six.
