The City of Seal Beach has a wooden exterior staircase that was fumigated for termites in 2021.There's a small access/storage room under the stairs. We assessed the staircase for structural integrity and, while there is no termite damage,we found that the staircase has been under prolonged moisture exposure. As a result of this deterioration, some of the vertical supports are no longer in contact with the bottom horizontal supports. Some general contractor items includes: 1. Replacement of deteriorated members. 2. Sealant on the area around the stairs to prevent water penetration. 3. Application of insect control products to prevent future infestations. 4. Sealant for a white plate nailed to the interior side of the wall beneath the stairs. 5. Fixing loose connections between members observed underneath the stair. We can also schedule a site visit to better clarify the scope. Please let me know your availability!
