ORDINANCE NUMBER /~~/ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, INCREASING CERTAIN PENALTIES ON DELINQUENT WATER ACCOUNTS, INCREASING CHARGES FOR RESUMPTION OF WATER SERVICE, SETTING A CHARGE FOR EMERGENCY SERVICE, AND AMENDING THE SEAL BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 26-12 of the Seal Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 26-12'- Delinquent Accounts; Termination of Water Service; Fee for Resumption of Service; Removal of Meter; Fee for Replacement of r1eter. Should an account for water service not be paid on or before the twentieth day of the month in which it becomes due, it shall be deemed delinquent and a reminder shall be mailed to the party responsible for payment of the bill. If not paid before ten days thereafter, the water shall be shut off from the premises where used and shall not again be turned on until all arrears together with a charge of fifteen dollars ($15.00) to cover expenses shall have been paid. In the event water has been turned on without the consent of the Water Superintendent after having previously been shut off for non-payment of bills. or on written order provided for in this chapter, the meter shall be removed and a charge of twenty dollars ($20.00) in addition to the fifteen dollars ($15.00) turn-on charge provided for in this section shall be collected before the meter shall again be installed. In the event an occupant or owner requires emergency service by the Water Department for the purpose of turning on water service which had been shut off for non-payment of bills, a charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be made which shall be payable with the next regular water bills, and which if unpaid shall become a lien against the property in accordance with Section 26-13 of this chapter.
