Home My WebLink AboutCC Ord 1000 1976-08-09 I OROINANCE NUMBER /06(') AN OROINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, A CHARTER CITY, PROPOSING A BALLOT MEASURE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF THE SAME TO THE QUALIFIEO ELECTORS THEREOF AT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 2nd DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1976, CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION, AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: I Section 1. T.hat the following ballot measure of the City of Seal Beach shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City at a Special Municipal Election to be held in said City on November 2, 1976, and consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on said date; that the ballot measure submitted to the voters shall be as set forth below. Section 2. That the polls for said election shall be opened at 7 o'clock a.m. for the day of said election and shall remain open continually from that time until 8 o'clock p.m. of said day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. Section 3. That the ballots to be used at said Special Election in addition to any other matters required by law, shall be printed substantially as follows: Shall the City of Seal Beach establish a comprehensive Paramedic Program at an YES estimated annual cost of $200,000 to be funded by a property tax increase in the amount of seventeen cents (17t) per $100 NO of assessed valuation? I Section 4. That a cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the measure. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the measure. Section 5. That the Special Election hereby called for and the date hereinbefore specified shall be and is hereby ordered consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on said date, and within said city, the precincts, polling places, and officers of election for the special municipal election hereby c~lled shall be the same as those provided for in said statewide general election. The Board of Supervisors of Orange County is hereby authorized to order the consolidation of the special municipal election hereby called with said statewide general election, and said Registrar of Voters of Orange County is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal election, and said elections shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot, namely the ballots used at said general election shall be used. Said Registrar of Voters of Orange County shall certify the Page Two - Ordinance Number /000 I results of the canvass of the returns of said special municipal election to the City Council of said City and shall thereafter declare the results thereof. Section 6. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed, and directed to give such further notice of said election in time, form and manner as required by law. Section 7. Pursuant to Section 416 of the City Charter this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption. Section 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance by the City Council arid shall cause the same to be published as required by law.
