Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 3033 1981-01-28 I RESOLUTION NUMBER ~~::r~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING THE NEED AND DESIRE FOR ADDITIONAL PARKLAND IN THE COLLEGE PARK EAST AREA OF THE CITY, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES OROAIN AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, College Park East has approximately 6,500 residents and only five acres of parkland devoted to recreational purposes; and WHEREAS, this figure is twenty-five acres short of Orange County recreational standards; and WHEREAS, current city policy calls for the acquisition and development of additional parkland and recreational facilities; and WHEREAS, the existing 1980-81 fiscal budget contains two accounts which are specifically devoted to the development of parkland and recreational facilities; and WHEREAS, each of the existing accounts have limited funds which may be utilized to improve additional land areas to parkland standards; and I WHEREAS, the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Los Alamitos has approximately twelve acres of open field adjacent to College Park East which could be developed into useable parkland; and WHEREAS, this approximately twelve acre parcel located in the City of Los Alamitos, is available for immediate use by the City of Seal Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach wishes to pursue the feasibility of leasing approximately twelve acres of open space land from the City of Los Alamitos for the express purpose of park development to meet the need for additional parkland in the College Park East area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in the event a lease is entered into with the City of Los Alamitos, the sum of $80,000 will be set aside from Park and Recreation Funds for improvement of the park site, PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Counc~~J the City.
