RESOLUTION NUMBER 02 9 8 ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH OPPOSING THE TRANSFER
OF AIRCRAFT TIE DOWNS FROM MEADOWLARK
AIRPORT TO LOS ALAMITOS AIRPORT.
the citizens of Seal Beach have long supported only military
aviation use at the Los Alamitos Air Station; and
this local opposition to any civilian use, jet or general
aviation, is well documented over the past ten years in
numerous polls, studies, public hearings, Congressional
mail and with the Orange County Board of Supervisors; and
the Defense Department, in 1977 and 1978 has repeatedly
confirmed the incompatibility of ANY joint civilian use of
the Los Alamitos Air Station; and---
Huntington Beach is in the process of rezoning the existing
Meadowlark Airport for a mobile home park; and
Meadowlark Airport has approximately 250 aircraft tie down
spaces that will require relocation if and when the airport
closes; and
the closing of Meadowlark Airport will put pressure upon
Los Alamitos Airport to provide aircraft tie down facilities;
and
providing aircraft tie down facilities at Los Alamitos
Airport would be the first step in non-military aircraft
operations at Los Alamitos.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby oppose any non-military aircraft tie down facilities
at Los Alamitos Airport.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seal
Beach, at a meeting thereof held on the 23rd day of June 1980, by the
