RESOLUTION NUMBER '~~i7~~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH HONORING AND
COMMENDING THE SEAL BEACH WOMAN'S
CLUB FOR ITS YEARS OF COMMUNITY
SERVICE.
I
WHEREAS,
the Woman's Club of Seal Beach was organized in
1923 by six women and became a Federated Club in
1924; and
WHEREAS,
three women who have remained active in the Woman's
Club since 1923 and 1924 are Mrs. Estella Smith,
Mrs. Mary Pierpoint and M~. Evelyn Prentice; and
these women, along with 112 other dedicated members
and the Junior Membership, continue to serve the
community with various volunteer projects; and
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
some of the Woman's Club's accomplishments have
dealt with mail delivery service, the Anaheim
Landing Historical Marker, Gum Grove Park, the
development of the Senior Citizen's Center, Band
Review Parades; and
lmEREAS,
in recognition of their fine work in the develop-
ment of the Senior Citizen's Center, the Seal Beach
Woman's Club received the Disneyland Community
Service Award; and

WHEREAS,
the Woman's Club continues to volunteer their
services to work with the seniors at the Beverly
Manor Hospital; and
the Seal Beach Woman's Club' officially participated
on April 27, 1979 in "Federation Day."
WHEREAS,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Seal Beach does
hereby honor and commend the Seal Beach Woman's Club for its
fifty-six years of service to its community.
