HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 2909 1979-08-27 . . . .,. ~ I RESOLUTION NUMBER ~~~~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 'OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENOING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATDON PLAN TO INCLUDE THE POSITION OF BEACH MAINTENANCE CREW LEADER WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach has created the specific position of Beach Maintenance Crew Leader to replace the general position of Leadman; and WHEREAS, the position of Beach Maintenance Crew Leader utilizes the same salary range as the position of Leadman; and WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach personnel codes require that all filled positions be included in the City's Position Classification Plan; and I WHEREAS, the Assistant City Manager/Personnel Director in consultation with the Public Works Director has prepared a job description for the Beach Maintenance Crew Leader position; and WHEREAS, amendment of the City's Classification Plan to include this position will result in continued cost economy for the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby amend the Position Classification Plan to include the position of Beach Maintenance Crew Leader. Resolution Number BEACH MAINTENANCE CREW LEADER DEFINITION Under general supervlslon, supervises and assists a small crew in cleaning beaches, maintaining the municipal pier, and other related safety and sanitation activities. TYPICAL TASKS Receives assignments and plans proper use of personnel and equipment available; instructs subordinates; inspects equipment to determine need for and extent of repairs; reviews new jobs and projects with foreman; consults with foreman on periodic progress reports of divisional personnel; makes minor and occasionally major repairs of related equipment; coordinates mechanical repairs in the event of a serious breakdown; enforces safety regulations; maintains records; requisitions supplies; completes clerical work incidental to operation and maintenance. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education equivalent to completion of high school and two years experience in maintenance and supervision activities, one year of which must have been as a member of a Public Works Department. Beach maintenance experience highly desirable. Knowledge of the practices, equipment and terminology of the various divisions of the Public Works Department; ability to train and to supervise skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees; ability to operate graders, rollers, sweepers, tractors, and related equiplnent; ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports; ability to establish effective work relationships with other supervisors and employees.
