Home My WebLink AboutCC Ord 988 1976-04-06 I ORDINANCE NUMBER 9'r( AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, A CHARTER CITY, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN COUNCIL DISTRICT NUMBER ONE OF SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 11th DAY OF MAY, 1976, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM DISTRICT ONE OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. WHEREAS, Under the provisions of the Charter of the City of Seal Beach a General Municipal Election shall be held in Council District One on the 11th day of May, 1976 for the election of one member of the City Council from District Number One of said City for the short term of two (2) years. THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: I Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the Charter of the City of Seal Beach there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered a General Municipal Election to be held in Council District One of the City of Seal Beach, County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday, the 11th day of May, 1976 for the purpose of electing one member of the City Council from District Number One of said City for a short term of two years. Section 2. That the polls for said election shall be opened at 7 o'clock a.m. for the day of said election and shall remain open continually from that time until 8 o'clock p.m. of said day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. I Section 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be both as to form and matter contained herein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. Section 4. That the City Clerk of the City is hereby authorized, instructed, and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter, and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to prpper.ly and lawfully conduct said election. Section 5. That in all particulars not recited in this Ordinance said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. Section 6. That for the purpose of holding said General Municipal Election, there shall be and are hereby established five (5) voting precincts consisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of Seal Beach, District One, established for the holding of State and County elections, as said regular election precincts exist on the date of adoption of this ordinance. That the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated; and that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed Officers of Election and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. .' That the compensation of the persons hereinbefore named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty-nine Dollars for each Inspector and Twenty-four Dollars for each Judge and Clerk for said election. The rental for each of such polling places, where a charge is made, shall be the sum of Fifteen Dollars for said election. Section 8. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed, and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election in time, form and manner as required by law. Section 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by 1 aw. Page Three - Ordinance Number Sli1t3 I Section 10.
