Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 2755 1978-04-04 I I I RESOLUTION NUMBER ':l15"':r A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACTS OF THE PRIMARY MUNICIPAL NOMINAtING ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH ON THE 28th DAY OF MARCH, 1978, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF, AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY lAW. WHEREAS, A Primary Nominating Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Seal Beach, County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday, the 28th day of March, 1978, as required by Ordinance Number 1026 of the City of Seal Beach, California; and WHEREAS, Notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form, and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were property established; that election officers were appointed; and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed, and the returns made and declared in time, form, and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law and charter cities; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Resolution Number 2726, adopted the 12th day of December, 1977, the City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received, attached, and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A." NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA. DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOllOWS: Section 1. That there were eleven (11) voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election consisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of Seal Beach, California, as established for the holding of State and County elections. Section 2. That said Primary Nominating Municipal Election was held for the purpose of nominating the following officers of said city as required by the Charter of the City of Seal Beach and general laws of the State of California, to wit: One member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years from Councilmanic District One. One member of the City Council of said City for the full. term of four years from Councilmanic District Three. One member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years from Councilmanic District Five. Section 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City, except absent voter ballots, was 3046. I I I Page Two - Resolution Number ~;1Ji~ , Section 4. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 81, making a total of 3127 votes cast in said City.... Section 5. That the names of the persons voted for at said election for member of the City Council in Councilmanic District One are as follows: Ronald A. Kredell Homer F. Roughton That the names of the persons voted for at said election for member of the City Council in Councilmanic District Three is as follows: Harold Kent Seitz Gordon A. Shanks Thomas E. Blackman That the names of the persons voted for at said election for member of the City Council in Councilmanic District Five is as foll ows: Proctor H. Weir Lester L. Marshall Section That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said persons were candidates are as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. 6. The City Council does declare and determine that Ronald A. Kredell is elected as a member of the City Council of the City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years from Councilmanic District One; The City Council does declare and determine that Harold Kent Seitz and Thomas E. Blackman are nominated as a member of the City Council for the full term of four years from Councilmanic District Three. The City Council does declare and determine that Proctor H. Weir is elected as a member of the City Council of the City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years from Councilmanic District Five. Section 7. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of said City, a statement of the result of said election, showing: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) The whole number of votes cast in the City; The names of the persons voted for; For what office each person was voted for; The number of votes given at each precinct to each person; The number of votes given in the City to each person; Section 8. That the City Clerk s~all certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original . I I I .'
