HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 2572 1976-07-12 I I I RESOLUTION NUMBER ';:;;7 'V A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE INADEQUATE TELEVISION COVERAGE OF THE ORANGE COUNTY ELECTIONS. WHEREAS, the County of Orange is the second most populous county in the State of California, with a population of nearly two million residents; and WHEREAS, the lack of a commercial television facility within Orange County makes it dependent upon the Los Angeles television stations for news coverage; and television coverage of the June 1976 Primary Election was completely inadequate with regard to Orange County Congressional races and other local propositions; WHEREAS, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach deplores and objects to the inadequate television coverage of Orange County Congressional elections and other ballot issues; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Seal Beach City Council urges and endorses more complete coverage of Orange County election issues by commercial tele- vision stations in the los Angeles metropolitan area; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to all commercial television stations in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, as well as to all member cities of the League of California Cities, and the Board of Supervisors of Orange County.
