RESOLUTION NO. ;?h /,2,; A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO INCLUDE THE JOB CLASSIFICATION OF ASSOCIATE PLANNER. WHEREAS, the Position Classification Plan of the City of Seal Beach does not presently include the position classification of Associate Planner; and WHEREAS, the Personnel Officer in consultation with the City Manager and the Planning Director has recommended the creation of the position classification of Associate Planner; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board has reviewed the requirements and standards prepared by the Personnel Officer for the jOb classification in question and has recommended adoption of the classification of Associate Planner by the City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, does hereby amend the Position Classification Plan of the City to include the classification of Associate Planner. Typical Tasks Designs neighborhood and community units of a city. street and highways. recreation and park areas. assists in the preparation of elements. amendments. or comprehensive reports for the General Plan; performs or assists in phases of planning research by compiling basic data ~. relating to zoning and land .use; assists public by explaining the regulatory ordinances and by reviewing applications on matters relating to zoning and subdivision regulations; prepares maps. charts or other illustrated material; writes reports; and may be required to represent the Planning Director at commission meetings or public affairs as required. Distinguishing Characteristics . This class differs from the lower class of Planning Assistant in that it involves a greater knowledge of planning principles. increased' technical judgement and greater responsibilities. Employment Standards Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or. ": . university with specialization in city planning. architecture. landscape architecture, civil engineering. geography or related fields and two years experience in city, county. or regional planning. Knowledge of theory. principles, and practices of public agency planning and zoning; the State Planning Act and Subdivision Map Act, and pertinent city, county and state laws and regulations affecting planning; statistical and research methods.
