RESOLUTION NUMBER~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION OF THE IMPACT OF THE PROPOSED PLAN TO TRANSFER ADMINISTRATION OF THE LOS ALAMITOS NAVAL AIR STATION FROM THE NAVY TO THE CALIFORNIA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD, it has recently been announced that the administration of the multi-branch Armed Forces Reserve Center on the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station (LANAS) will be transferred from the Navy to the California Army National Guard; and WHEREAS, the impact on the level of operations resulting from the change of command is unknown; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS, the impact on the communities surrounding LANAS is also unknown; and WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach has adopted Resolution Number 2541, expressing satisfaction with the current level of operations at LANAS as the maximum, compatible, safe use of LANAS; and WHEREAS, the transfer of command of LANAS to the California Army National Guard is of great concern to the City of Seal Beach because of the possible changes in the level of operations at LANAS; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach urges the Congress of the United States to conduct a full investigation to determine the impact on the level of operations at LANAS and the effects on the communities surrounding LANAS; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to the cities in Orange County, Congressmen Mark Hannaford and Jerry Patterson, Senators S. Hayakawa and Alan Cranston, State Senator Dennis Carpenter, and State Assemblyman Dennis Mangers.
